Global online hackathon

September 4-6, 2021

The OHacksIO hackathon has concluded for 2021! We will be hosting another one in 2022, so stay tuned!

About Us

What is OHacksIO?

OHacksIO is a virtual hackathon in which teams of students will be given a theme and a set time period to create an app, demo exness. There are limitless possibilties as to what you can create, as long as you're within bounds of the theme. In addition to the main competition, there will be workshops for beginner programmers.

What should I expect?

In 2021, OHacksIO had over 300 registrations and 250 participants. While we do have a very competitive and professional atmosphere, we also make sure to plan a bunch of fun activities along the way to ease the stress!

Our Goal

With this hackathon, we hope to encourage and enable students around, participate, and excel in innovative thinking through a competition style format.

What does MLH mean?

Major League Hacking (MLH) is an official student hackathon league. OHacksIO is proud to be taking part in MLH Season 2022. As an MLH event, we strictly follow their Code of Conduct. Make sure to check it out!

Who can join?
Our hackathon is open to anyone in high school or middle school. There will be one section for beginners and one for more experienced hackers.
What if I can't code?

No problem! There will be workshops where you can learn and grow as a programmer.

When and where will it be?
Our hackathon will take place online so that anyone can participate from anywhere in the world! The main competition will start September 4th, 2021 and end on September 6th.
Why should I join?

Because it will be a ton of fun! Between making a project, participating in mini games, attending talks from experts in technology, and just chatting with other participants, there will be plenty of things for everyone to enjoy. Not to mention that winners of the hackathon will receive prizes and a feature on our website.

What do I do after I register?

Just sit tight and wait! We will send you detailed emails with instructions on what to do and how to do it. We take care of almost everything, so no need to worry!

Do I need a team? How big can my team be?

Teams can have up to 4 people. Working solo is completely fine, but if you would like to work with others, there will be opportunities to connect and possibly form a team with other participants after registering.

Does this cost money?

Nope, OHacksIO is completely free!

How do I form a team?

You can form a team with friends, or you can team up with other participants after registering. Just make sure your team contains no more than 4 members.

How do I sign up?

The registration form for the 2022 OHacksIO hackathon will be available next summer, so make sure to check our website frequently around then for the registration link!
